About
Tonya L. Janney
Born in Boones Mill, I am a Franklin County native. While in law school I completed an internship with the Supreme Court of Ohio. After graduating law school I was chosen for a 2-year clerkship with the Honorable George Proctor, Chief United States Bankruptcy Judge, Northern District of Florida. I worked for Smith, Hulsey, and Busey, a large firm in Florida with a general practice for a year. I then worked with Evelyn Krippendorf in Roanoke for 2 years, after which I started my own practice.
I have been a member of the board of the Family Resource Center in Rocky Mount, Virginia, and represented Franklin County as a member of the board of Blue Ridge Legal Services. I have also been named a Pro Bono Service Roll Member by the VA Access to Justice Commission.
I am a single mother with two girls. My youngest daughter is going to JMU in the fall, and my oldest to grad school at Longwood. My oldest also earned a Graduate Assistantship position at Longwood for 2 years. In my free time, I enjoy reading, biking, hiking, swimming, fishing, and tubing. You could say I’m up for doing pretty much anything outdoors.
